Hello, and welcome to my blog. I am Stacey, and Quiltmaker is one of my favorite magazines. This is my second feature in the Quiltmaker 100 Blocks magazine, and I am honored to be included. Issue 7 is due out on May 7th. I love to quilt, and my second favorite thing to do is reading. Reading is a hobby that I picked up as a young girl, and have done it my whole life. *ahem* Some would say I spend too much time reading (I seem to always get in trouble with the husband :D) Having a busy life with my husband and our 4 busy kids, then you now add our new farm into the mix (9 goats, 6 pigs, 2 calves, and 60 chicks~oh my!), reading is my down time, my escape so to speak. This is where I got my inspiration for my block design. I designed a block of a girl with her nose in a book, almost quite literally. And what better than covering up with a quilt while you enjoy that book? I love to do them both together.
I did make a second block, and for the heck of it, I decided to hand embroider it and then I did a really weird and bazaar thing for myself, I did something out of my comfort zone, I sent it to one of my favorite authors, and the hand embroidering that I did on it was of the cover to her first book. This amazingly talented author is Colleen Hoover (and her first book was called Slammed, amazing! the second book in that series is called Point of Retreat, and actually today her third book is being released called This Girl.) Anywho, in my haste to send it to her I forgot to take a picture of it, so I emailed her last week and asked if she could take a picture of it for me so that I could share it with you all, so here is the picture :D
I love this block, now I need to make another one for myself.
Ok, so now it's time for the giveaway, I am giving away 2 copies of the magazine, one from Quiltmaker, and one from myself. To be entered, you can earn 2 entries:

Fantastic story and block, so what book are you reading now. Yes I love to read to.
Boy can I relate! Once I get my nose in a book or in a quilt, the house could fall down around me and I'd never notice. Well, at least that's what my husband says ;->
I follow you now.
What a sweet and generous thing to share your block with your favorite author. And from the look on her face I would guess she loves it. Very clever block. I love to read too!
I've GOT to get that block and make a bunch for my friends who are published authors! I may have to change the hair to a man's hairstyle, though, for one of them!
I grew up on a farm. I loved to read as a child. Then our lovely school system ruined that love for me. Then as an adult, I have renewed a great friendship with reading. I have a Kindle and prefer to have a real book in my hand. Growing up, we did not have a television until I was 9, so each family member took a book to bed. I still love to curl up under a comforter of some description to read.
Congrats on your block and it's versatility. Thanks for being very generous in your giveaway.
