Quiltmaker’s 100 Blocks, Vol. 7 Blog Tour! (giveaway also!)

Hello, and welcome to my blog.  I am Stacey, and Quiltmaker is one of my favorite magazines.  This is my second feature in the Quiltmaker 100 Blocks magazine, and I am honored to be included.  Issue 7 is due out on May 7th.  I love to quilt, and my second favorite thing to do is reading.  Reading is a hobby that I picked up as a young girl, and have done it my whole life.  *ahem* Some would say I spend too much time reading (I seem to always get in trouble with the husband :D)  Having a busy life with my husband and our 4 busy kids, then you now add our new farm into the mix (9 goats, 6 pigs, 2 calves, and 60 chicks~oh my!), reading is my down time, my escape so to speak.  This is where I got my inspiration for my block design.  I designed a block of a girl with her nose in a book, almost quite literally.  And what better than covering up with a quilt while you enjoy that book?  I love to do them both together.

I did make a second block, and for the heck of it, I decided to hand embroider it and then I did a really weird and bazaar thing for myself, I did something out of my comfort zone, I sent it to one of my favorite authors, and the hand embroidering that I did on it was of the cover to her first book.  This amazingly talented author is Colleen Hoover (and her first book was called Slammed, amazing! the second book in that series is called Point of Retreat, and actually today her third book is being released called This Girl.)  Anywho, in my haste to send it to her I forgot to take a picture of it, so I emailed her last week and asked if she could take a picture of it for me so that I could share it with you all, so here is the picture :D

I love this block, now I need to make another one for myself.

Ok, so now it's time for the giveaway, I am giving away 2 copies of the magazine, one from Quiltmaker, and one from myself.  To be entered, you can earn 2 entries:
~follow my blog

That's it, easy peasy!  and Thank You for stopping by.  Giveaway winners will be announced on May 4th!

Wonderful block! And I love the version you embroidered. I know several people for who this would be great.

Reading used to be my number one down time, but now it is the second. My new down time is quilting! I started quilting last year when I retired. I had been collecting fabric for years, but had never made a quilt until then. Now, if I'm not quilting I'm reading about it or browsing sites that have quilts! I love your block and the story that goes with it! Thanks for the chance to win!

I love your block. That is me, when I have a good book you can't pry me away from it.

Oh yeah... I'm a follower now as well. It's hard to believe that you are a tester, a quilt block designer, a very busy mother and take care of a new farm as well. :-)

Cute block! Reminds me of myself as a young girl - always with my nose in a book. I still love to read, but I can get so involved with a story that I want to do nothing else, even sleep!

I have always loved to read too! What is better than curling up in a quilt and escaping into your book? Nothing, I say.

Tee, hee -- love the block. When I was a kid, my mother frequently told people that I always had my nose in a book.

Congratulations on having your block selected for volume 7. It is such a clever, cute, creative block - it is so me! Not that I am clever, cute and creative, but that I am a reader, too! You nailed it with this one! :-)

You too get into trouble for reading too much? Didn't know I have company in that! I too read a bit too much and frequently get taken to task. Course I also do a lot of quilting, so I guess maybe I'm ready to do more reading.

I love the block! I can just see a quilt being made with it, each block having a favorite title...

I absolutely love your block and yes I am a person who probably could get more done if I didn't spend so much time reading. I look at it like this. There are probably a lot worse things I could be doing. At least I could possibly be gaining some knowledge. Ok, not with most of the books I read but I occasionally will add a non fiction book into the mix.

How in the world do you find time to do any quilting, much less relaxing to read anything? Wow! I love your block and am super excited to see if you hear back from your favorite author. How exciting for you.
