Hello, and welcome to my blog. I am Stacey, and Quiltmaker is one of my favorite magazines. This is my second feature in the Quiltmaker 100 Blocks magazine, and I am honored to be included. Issue 7 is due out on May 7th. I love to quilt, and my second favorite thing to do is reading. Reading is a hobby that I picked up as a young girl, and have done it my whole life. *ahem* Some would say I spend too much time reading (I seem to always get in trouble with the husband :D) Having a busy life with my husband and our 4 busy kids, then you now add our new farm into the mix (9 goats, 6 pigs, 2 calves, and 60 chicks~oh my!), reading is my down time, my escape so to speak. This is where I got my inspiration for my block design. I designed a block of a girl with her nose in a book, almost quite literally. And what better than covering up with a quilt while you enjoy that book? I love to do them both together.
I did make a second block, and for the heck of it, I decided to hand embroider it and then I did a really weird and bazaar thing for myself, I did something out of my comfort zone, I sent it to one of my favorite authors, and the hand embroidering that I did on it was of the cover to her first book. This amazingly talented author is Colleen Hoover (and her first book was called Slammed, amazing! the second book in that series is called Point of Retreat, and actually today her third book is being released called This Girl.) Anywho, in my haste to send it to her I forgot to take a picture of it, so I emailed her last week and asked if she could take a picture of it for me so that I could share it with you all, so here is the picture :D
I love this block, now I need to make another one for myself.
Ok, so now it's time for the giveaway, I am giving away 2 copies of the magazine, one from Quiltmaker, and one from myself. To be entered, you can earn 2 entries:

i am now a follower ... browsed your blog and like what's in it.
I LOVE your block!
Love this block, I worked at a library for year and this seems so appropriate for some of my friends.
What a beautiful, unique block! And how cool that it is connected with the publishing of a book! Congratulations and thanks for a chance to win!
Your block is TOO cute! I just love what all of you talented quilters create in these Quiltmaker 100 Block collections! Can't wait to see it in person. Thanks for all you do to keep our blocks fresh and lively.
How sweet. Thank you for sharing with us!
Wonderful block! And I love the version you embroidered. I know several people for who this would be great.
Reading used to be my number one down time, but now it is the second. My new down time is quilting! I started quilting last year when I retired. I had been collecting fabric for years, but had never made a quilt until then. Now, if I'm not quilting I'm reading about it or browsing sites that have quilts! I love your block and the story that goes with it! Thanks for the chance to win!
I love your block. That is me, when I have a good book you can't pry me away from it.
Oh yeah... I'm a follower now as well. It's hard to believe that you are a tester, a quilt block designer, a very busy mother and take care of a new farm as well. :-)
What an awesome way to personalize a block! Lucky Colleen, it's a great block! Thanks for a chance at the give-away!

great block - I'm sure lots of quilters are also avid readers :)
My sister is a librarian...she will love this block.
Awesome block! I love to read too - usually stay up way too late with my nose in a book...
Your block is sooooo cute!! What a great idea. I bet your friend was thrilled.
Cute block! Reminds me of myself as a young girl - always with my nose in a book. I still love to read, but I can get so involved with a story that I want to do nothing else, even sleep!
Your block is wonderful and I enjoy reading when not quilting. Fan4may at aol dot com
I have always loved to read too! What is better than curling up in a quilt and escaping into your book? Nothing, I say.
Tee, hee -- love the block. When I was a kid, my mother frequently told people that I always had my nose in a book.
Congratulations on having your block selected for volume 7. It is such a clever, cute, creative block - it is so me! Not that I am clever, cute and creative, but that I am a reader, too! You nailed it with this one! :-)
Very creative block! It would be perfect for a friend who loves to read.
lovely block, and great idea too!
What a cute block!! Makes me want to cuddle up under a quilt and read a good book
Love your block. I love to read too. Thank you for sharing.
I follow you..
Giveaways i love them. Love your site and your humor. I'll be following along.
"Congratulations!" When I was young, I would read under my pillow using a flashlight when
I really should have been sleeping.
I have enjoyed my visit.
You too get into trouble for reading too much? Didn't know I have company in that! I too read a bit too much and frequently get taken to task. Course I also do a lot of quilting, so I guess maybe I'm ready to do more reading.
I love to read too! and that was inherited by my daughter! now if she only would learn to love to quilt too!
What a great block. Lots of things can be done with it.
Thanks for a chance to win an issue.
What a cute block! I always have a book with me. How perfect to put it on a quilt block.
So clever of you to combine your two favorite pastimes. How exciting that Colleen Hoover acknowledged you too! Thanks for a chance to win and enjoy your family and farm. Sandi
Hi Stacey.i like your block. The colors are full of energy. I tried to sign for your blog but I could not see where. Thanks for sharing your creativity with us.

What a great idea! Congrats on having your block in the magazine. Thank you for the opportunity to win a copy.
I am following your blog. Thank younforna chance to win.
I also, like reading and your block reminds me of myself as a girl.
What a great block! I think I'll make one for my daughter when I pick up Vol. 7.
I used to be that young girl reading with her nose always in a book! I still love to read, reading and quilting keep me sane! Thanks for the chance to win.
Reading and Quilting are my two favorite pastimes also. Never got to bed before 2a.m. in high school.
I love the block! I can just see a quilt being made with it, each block having a favorite title...
I absolutely love your block and yes I am a person who probably could get more done if I didn't spend so much time reading. I look at it like this. There are probably a lot worse things I could be doing. At least I could possibly be gaining some knowledge. Ok, not with most of the books I read but I occasionally will add a non fiction book into the mix.
I am a follower of your blog.
You block is a great original. I love it. Thanks for the chance to win !
I love to read too! This is a great expression of a favorite activity...or two activities since there is a quilt in this block too!
What a cute block! I can see it as a big pocket on a new book tote for my library visits.
Thanks!
That is definitely a beautiful block. Thanks for the chance to win a copy of 100 Blocks 7!
I love reading also right now I'm in the middle of an Earlene Fowler's Series. I love your block great Idea.
That could be me in your block--I spend lots of time reading too!
Reading is my second hobby, although most of my reading is electronic now, and wouldn't make such a cute block.
As a fellow reader and quilter I love your block. I can picture it on a kindle cover.
Your block is so very unique!!! And what a special thing to mail it to an author. I'd love to win.

I love you block! My 2 favorite things, quilting and reading!!
I'm a new follower too!
This is one block that I can definitely use. My youngest son is an avid book reader and I always add quirky labels to my children's quilts. So this one will be it for his next quilt.
How in the world do you find time to do any quilting, much less relaxing to read anything? Wow! I love your block and am super excited to see if you hear back from your favorite author. How exciting for you.
I am now following your blog via GFC. I looked around to find a place to put my email in to follow via email notification when you create a new post, but didn't see that. It would be great if you'd consider adding that to your blog.
Thank you.
I have to do this block for my son who is an avid 5 yr old reader. Too stinkin' cute!!!!
